På förmiddagen idag såg det riktigt lovande ut. Det som var av snöslask från igår hade under natten regnat bort. Himlen visade till och med några flikar av blått. Temperaturen låg på 5-6 grader. En perfekt dag för en långtur med hundarna!
Men efter lunch så började det stänka...
OK, det var inte vätre än att det fortfarande var promenadbart så vi klädde oss efter vädret och gav oss ut. Provade att gå längs fältet norrut, men där låg slasket kvar och det var hopplöst lerigt. Istället tog vi oss upp i skogen och banade oss väg mellan sly och grenar. Inte blev vi direkt torrare av det...
När vi kom upp på den nyanlagda Koltrastvägen så tänkte jag gå upp till vändplanen för att se hur långt de kommit med de nya husen, men då tittade hundarna på mig med blickar som sa: "Nej, nu räcker det." Så vi vände hemåt. Blöta och lite kalla om tassarna, men med frisk luft i lungorna och skogsdoft i nosen.

Many say that she is a small bitch, but she is actually 29 cm. She has a wonderful expression, typical for the breed. She has very good proportions. She has the correct fine bone structure and a very well developed body. We will continue showing her for judges that knows the breed.
And if lure coursing had been open for other than sighthounds she would have been a great star. She has shown a lot of talent in the field.

Totte is now an older veteran. He doesn't seem to have noticed it himself. He is still dancing around like a youngster, but he can also be the worlds coolest. He meets the world with a smile, and it's impossible not to love him.
Totte was born in the last litter at the legendary kennel Keshar. He started his show career by taking the cc in tough competition under the judge Brenda Banbury at SKK Jönköping as a young junior in the fall 1994. After that he participated in just a few shows in Sweden. In 1997 he moved to Norway where he was shown a few times during 1998. That fall he was injured rather badly and was partially paralysed for some days. Thanks to luck and good veterinarians he was able to move around almost as normal after just a few weeks. Summer 2000 he made his comeback in the show rings with his dancing movements and won three cc's in four shows.
Due to an injury in fall 2003 we haven’t shown him any more.
His biggest advantages are his wonderful head, strong back, dancing movements and lovely temperament.

Ior (Eeyore) has got his name for a reason. Nobody can look as sad as him. But nobody can on the other hand the second after be so full of play and bouncing. He is a happy guy that thinks that everyone is his friend. He is a dog that it's very easy to love. "Velvet outside and velvet inside", as a friend use to say.
Ior is 37 cm, something that is considered as small in today's competition. He is a very elegant dog, but very sound and with a well developed body. He has a very beautifully chiselled head and a long, well carried neck. He has an excellent bone structure, and he has the classical dancing movements of the breed. He has a mild and alert temperament on top of that.

Gammal dam "som ny"
Seraquin har gjort underverk med Lisas leder. (Se föregående post.)
Hon är nu i princip helt besvärsfri. Hon skuttar runt som en ungtik och försöker få igång de andra med lekinviter. Steget är lätt och fjädrande. Hon sträcker ut sig på morgonen utan några tecken på smärta eller besvär.
Det är helt underbart att se skillnaden på bara några veckor!

Stela leder på gammal dam
Vår italienartik Lisa ska fylla 11 i januari.
Under en tid har han varit väldigt stel på morgnarna. Hon har haltat och visat att hon har ont när man lyfter henne. (Hon hade små tendenser till samma sak förra vintern, men inte så här uttalat.) Under dagen är det som om det mjukas upp och hon kan studsa omkring precis som vanligt.
På inrådan från veterinären har vi börjat ge henne Seraquin, ett medel i tablettform med bl a glukosamin.
Hon har nu fått det i en och en halv vecka och vi tycker oss redan se en skillnad. Även om hon fortfarande är stel på morgonen så har hon inte lika ont. Och hon har blivit mer lättrörlig ute.
Vi kommer nu att fortsätta på full dos i ytterligare några veckor innan vi utvärderar.
Så vi hoppas att Lisa ska bli helt besvärsfri och kunna ha många fina år kvar med oss.

Ja, nu är Ior hemma igen efter en vecka i Skåne.
Han har varit nere och parat en mycket trevlig och söt tik vid namn Peggy.
Så nu hoppas vi att hon "tagit" sig så att det blir fina valpar i slutet av januari.
Han uppförde sig som vanligt i löptider, dvs struntade i att äta. Så efter en vecka är han lite i tunnaste laget.
En annan intressant sak är att han inte på allvar brydde sig om tiken förrän hon på allvar kommit in i höglöpet. Även om hon visade att hon var villig var hans intresse halvhjärtat till en början.
På tåget hem stensov han. Det är slitsamt att "göra sin plikt"....

Polka - status på brutet tåben
Så här två månader efter skadan kan vi konstatera att det har läkt helt perfekt.
Efter några veckor med bandage så röntgades hon och läkningen hade då börjat bra och det såg lovande ut. Rehabilitering startades med simning två gånger i veckan. Till en början ett par korta pass, men på slutet var det 20-25 minuter utan paus. Hon var otroligt duktig. Hon simmade med ihärdiga tag och upptäckte snart att man faktiskt kunde simma rundor i poolen.
Parallellt med det utökade vi längden på de dagliga promenaderna.
För två veckor sedan var det dags för "slutröntgen". Bilderna visade ett i princip helt läkt tåben! Och strålningsmätningen av tassarna visade helt jämna värden mellan höger och vänster!
Så nu är vi i stort sett tillbaka i normala rutiner igen. Vi har ett par simpass kvar, men det är allt!

Polkas tå
I söndags slog Polka i tassen när hon och Ior for fram ute i trädgården.
Hon ömmade lite, men kunde sätta ner tassen.
Under de nästa dagarna blev det inte bättre, hon ville inte stödja fullt ut på tassen.
Så vi åkte in till veterinären med henne i onsdags och fick tassen undersökt. Röntgen visade ett brutet tå ben på vänster fram. Tack och lov sitter brottet inte i leden, även om det är väldigt nära.
Så hon ska nu gå med bandage fram till återbesök om tre veckor. Hon är en duktig tjej som inte tuggar på bandaget eller verkar störas av det.
Det ska läggas om var tredje dag och hon har till och med fått Rimadyl som smärtstillande.
Hoppas av hela mitt hjärta att det ska läka fint så de inte behöver plocka bort tån.

Vi gillar sommaren!
Att vara hund på sommaren bara bara så totalt bäst!
Vi har en hel trädgård i två nivåer att knalla runt i. Den är som gjord för rusningar i glädjefnatt. Och så finns det massor av saker att hålla koll på. Plus att man kan stå och titta ut över kärret och skogen.
Om man vill så kan man fläka ut sig på terrassen i solen eller hitta en skuggig plats under ett träd eller ett parasoll.
Till och med när det regnar så kan man vara ute eftersom det är ett tak över halva terrassen.
Så nu när våra hussar ska ha semester i tre veckor ska vi utnyttja vår trädgård maximalt!

4 blev 5
Jodå, nu är vi 5 hundar i huset. Det kändes som om vi behövde gardera oss mot att hussarna och katterna skulle liera sig och få fem röster mot våra fyra. Så för att undvika det så har Polka flyttat hit. Det gör att vi hundar kan gå segrande ur alla omröstningar. (Ni vet väl att hundarna alltid har utslagsrösten?)
Polka är en glad kinestjej på strax 4 år som vi känner sedan förut. Hussarna gillar henne också jättemycket.

Nu är det vår tur!
Hallå? Varför är det tomt i vår alldeles egen blog? Fullständigt oacceptabelt!
Vi har upptäckt att kabeln till hussarnas bredband gårgenom vårt rum så nu har vi kopplat in oss. Tassvänligt tangentbord har vi redan fixat, ett sådant där med lite större tangenter.
Idag ska vi bara rapportera att det är helt OK att vara hund när vårsolen värmer och vinden är full av nya spännande dofter.
Men var så säker, det kommer mera!
